Collegiate Recovery Program

College can be overwhelming for students in recovery or those seeking recovery from substance use disorders, especially with increased access to alcohol and other drugs, which are staples on college campuses. Pair this with increased stress, anxiety and depression, and you could have a recipe for disaster. But with the right support, it doesn’t have to be that way.

The Jamie Daniels Foundation is committed to empowering college students in recovery by funding collegiate recovery program across the state of Michigan.

These programs:

  • Offer connections to peers who have similar struggles and challenges
  • Provide support to achieve educational goals
  • Foster coping mechanisms and skills
  • Deliver opportunities for students to find a balance between their recovery status and potential conflicting values with other college students

We actively fund 9 colleges and universities in Michigan. Support is tailored to the needs of each university. Initiatives include:

  • Counseling
  • Substance-free Housing
  • Scholarships
  • Dedicated spaces
  • Training programs
  • Substance-free Events

Most importantly, these programs foster community and the connections needed for students to overcome challenges on campus.

Success Stories

“Having a visible and thriving CRP on campus not only supports students who are already in recovery but also normalizes the recovery experience for those students who will need to be, making it more likely that they reach out for help sooner.”

Matt Statman, Collegiate Recovery Manager, University of Michigan
