ONE THOUSAND of you joined the movement!

JAMIE DANIELS FOUNDATION

We joined the #NOSHAME Movement!

In May we invited you to join us in the SAFE Project’s No Shame Movement by committing to combat the negative perception of addiction and help us reduce the impact of stigma by signing the #NoShame pledge.

Through our partnership with other like-minded organizations, we were reached over 100,000 people across the U.S. with our message with well over 1000 taking the pledge. To those who joined us in the #NoShame Movement – we appreciate you and your pursuit to end stigma. Click here to see who took the pledge on behalf of the Jamie Daniels Foundation.

Expanding access to collegiate recovery support

Did you know only 15% of colleges and universities in Michigan have collegiate recovery programming? We are working to improve this number by teaming up with SAFE Project to provide virtual training for higher education personnel to establish or improve their recovery support at their school. Words matter!

In a new policy statement, the American Academy of Pediatrics is aiming to end the use of harmful, stigmatizing language that has been used to portray substance use disorder. They are instead advocating for the use of medically accurate, person-first terminology. To learn how we are supporting them in this effort, click here.

A heartbreaking statistic

From 2019 to 2021, overdose deaths among adolescents aged 14-18 increased 133%! This new statistic reported by the Journal of the American Medical Association is a result of an even-worsening fentanyl crisis. To read more, click here.
